Frequently Asked Questions

How does it all work?

First, RapidShots photographers, stationed at key points along the river, capture you in action like this:

Our runners, spirit the images back to our lab where our technical staff prepares the images for you to view on the web.  By the time you get home, a gallery with pictures from your trip has been posted to RapidShots.com and is ready for you to view!

What can I buy?

RapidShots images are available to you as the traditional 8 x 10 print as well as a variety of large-format prints, digital images on CD, mousepads, mugs and many other forms.  Select the 'Products' link on the left to see all that we have to offer.

How do you print my pictures?

RapidShots prints your images the same way that high quality photos are developed:  in a wet chemical bath on photographic paper.  This 'wet' process guarentees that your pictures come out razor sharp every time.  We use Kodak Royal Glossy Paper, for color that lasts and lasts.  We want you to be able to treasure and showcase your image for years.  Our uncompromising development process helps make that possible.

The pictures in my web gallery have 'Copyright 2004 RapidShots.com'  or 'Photoreflect' right through the middle of them.  Why?

RapidShots wants to keep bringing you these fantastic pictures.  To that end, we can't give away high quality downloadable images.  We have to sell them.  To encourage people to purchase their pictures, the pictures that are posted on RapidShots.com have been protected in two ways:  First, all pictures have been watermarked with a ghosted RapidShots.com logo or filename to spoil the image enough to discourage downloading while allowing you to see the image well enough to make a decision about it.  Second, all images are severely reduced in size and quality.  We provide the website as a way to view your proof.  Your purchased print or digital image will be full quality and un-watermarked.

*Note:  This image does not represent a full quality image.  RapidShots would like to post a full quality image here to demonstrate the quality of our images but the files are so large, it would take almost 10 minutes to download one picture on a 56k phone line!

How long will my pictures be available to view online?

Your pictures will be posted to the web shortly after your trip and will stay on RapidShots.com for Four weeks.  Currently, if you would like to view them after that period, you will need to email RapidShots Customer Service.  In the near future, after four weeks, your images will still be available online at slightly higher archival prices.

If I buy a picture, do I own the image?

When you buy a picture from RapidShots, you get an image that is licensed to you by RapidShots for your Personal Use.  If you would like an additional copy of your image(s), digital or print, you may only get a copy through RapidShots.  Our copyright extends to both Digital and Printed images.  Images are available for commercial use and publication but only through an additional licensing agreement with RapidShots.  Email us for more information on Licensing an image for publication.

I ordered my photo, my card has been charged, when will it be shipped?

Orders from RapidShots.com can take 2-4 weeks to ship.  All orders are custom printed for you - as such, we must charge your card before we ship your order.  You can check whether or not your order has been shipped by visiting the link in your confirmation email or This Link.  You will need your order confirmation number to check on the shipping status.  An order is either 'in process' (means, we are in the process of printing and packaging your order) or 'Shipped' ( your order shipped on the date indicated).
